AS-128 is a rare mono integrated amplifier in recent market. In order to ensure enough voltage

swing, we set a true pre-amplifier so that AS-128 is a real integrated design. The line of AS-128 is

very special, although is not 1:1 duplicating with original WE Company’s line, but it is almost same

as WE company. Like 211 tube integrated amplifier, pre-part is 12AX7 two level gain circuits and

input transformer which is 1:1 duplicating with WEST Electric’s 618. And the pushing of 212 tube

uses WE’s 1:1 duplicated 264C to be the transformer drive.。。

In domestic, WE’s 212 tube amplifier is exclusive and special, which shows the extraordinary

strength of WE company.

The power-supply of AS-128 is independent high & low voltage transformer with independent

cable. Users can choose thick wire as the low-voltage cable and choose the small wire as the high-

voltage cable. Power input seat is PO-1 vibration-suppress plug. After plugging in the cable,

tighten the two screws on the plug and the cable and body will not fall off easily.

Output transformer 171 has special output cable for 4Ω speaker. Turn the switch to 4Ω output while

meeting hard-pushing speaker.

In order to keep utmost appearance with original WE company, small components of panel such as

switches, buttons and ammeters are almost same as WE.   

The appearance of AS-128 is base + panel design. Two sides of panel with 2 black handles. On

the middle of the panel is an ammeter. One turning switch is on the each side of this level meter.

The lift one controls the light; the right one shows the status of the switch. Below the level meter is

volume button. The left side of it is the input switching; the right side of the volume is the switch of

power supply.

There are 2 power input outlet on the rear panel. The black one is high-voltage power, the grey

one is low-voltage power. On the middle of the rear panel is the 8Ω and 16Ω positive output

terminals of speaker. 16Ωswitch can be turned into 4Ω output. Other side of the rear panel is 4

RCA input interface.

2 of the 4 transformers which sheltered by metal box are high-voltage and low-voltage circuit

power transformers. Another 2 smaller transformers are 171A super output transformer and 264C

pushing transformer. The mini one sheltered by cylindrical box is 618 input transformer.

There are 6 electronic tubes in this speaker. Including one 212 tube, one 616 tube, 2 12AX7

voltage amplifier tube and 2 5U4 rectifier tube.

Analog sound AS-128 is the most cost-effective tube amplifier. The outer appearance is a high

quality metal case. Size and tolerance of its power amplifier is better than same kinds in the

market. It can continually play several days without sound changing. AS-128 has utmost stable

performance with WE company.

AS-128 can be integrated amplifier or pre-amplifier independently.

Firstly, I test its function when it as integrated amplifier, in other words, I connect CD player directly

to push speaker.   AS-128 has enough gain to be integrated amplifier due to we use duplicated WE

618B input transformer to amplify. When combines with AS-128 pre-amplify part, the sound of CD

is perfect.

When as pre-amplifier, the sound effect is better. The obvious part is sound quality and sound

details. Vacuum tube of AS-128 is 12AX7 of first past,  6L6 of second part and 212 as last part.

The rectification part is two 5U4 tubes. After changing to 350B, the sound upgrades to most perfect

level of 212 that I have ever listened.  No matter classical music, jazz, pop music, and so on, AS-

128 can perform well.  

First and second part amplify tube of AS-128 is 12AX7 and 6L6, which are purchasing easily in the

market. In fact, combines with 212  is excellent.
